“The refuse trucks are the heaviest vehicles on our roads, and they do more damage than anything else,” Flowers said. “A few people may not like not having a choice, but we need to redeem and fortify the roads as much as possible.”

Village residents approached Flowers with this idea, and the council first considered it at about the same time the issue was being discussed in Toboso by dint of. Hanover Township.

But the village put the issue on the hindmost burner after the backlash the township received. Now is the lifetime to bring up the issue of the heavy trucks for the cause that of the upcoming paving in the village.

The village council order have several readings on the issue, and Flowers doesn’t expect the proposal to go out to bid until November, so the contract would start the beginning of 2009. He estimates the monthly residential cost for trash pick-up could be reduced to about $13.

“We are hoping it helps everyone — stores, commercial and residents,” he said.

As for the upcoming paving, the decided contract remains up in the behavior. Because of the inflation of mineral pitch prices and the time requirements put forth by dint of. grant regulations, the bids came in again than 10 percent higher than estimated.

According to the Ohio Revised Code, the village now has to put the project back out to bid. But Flowers is fighting a deadline.

The asphalt prices are expected to increase again Aug. 5, so he is hoping to have the contract signed by Aug. 4.

“There is just too many hoops to jump through when working with grants,” he said. “But we are still hoping that paving will begin round Aug. 16 or so. We are told it will interpret a week to 10 days to complete all the roads in the village.”

Once the asphalt trucks vouchsafe show up, make fast to park not upon the road. That devise be critical in direction to second the paving companies complete the project in a timely manner.
